Timawa
(tih-MAH-wah)
Timawa in Capiz literally means forsaken lover. This courtship dance
originated in Lamot, a barrio in Capiz. Story recounts that two people,
a man and a woman, who were both timawas, met in a certain social
gathering and got acquainted with each other. In the course of their
conversation, they came to know that both of them had the same
misfortune, so they turned to each other for sympathy and comfort.
